Esthwaite Water RAMSAR
The Esthwaite Water catchment is between Lake Windermere and Coniston Water and is a protected Ramsar (The Convention on Wetlands) site.
Esthwaite Water is a eutrophic lake: a body of water that is rich in nutrients, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus, leading to excessive plant and algae growth.
Esthwaite Water Ramsar falls under the planning jurisdiction of the Lake District National Park Authority.
