River Derwent & Bassenthwaite Lake Special Area of Conservation
The River Derwent and Bassenthwaite Lake Special Area of Conservation (SAC) is in northwest Cumbria. Only some parts of it are affected by nutrient neutrality. The eastern part of the catchment borders on the Eden catchment.
This SAC falls under the planning jurisdiction of Westmorland and Furness Council, Cumberland Council, and the Lake District National Park Authority.

What is this area like?
This area’s environmental landscape is comprised of:
(96%) Inland water bodies (standing water, running water)
(3%) Bogs, marshes, water fringed vegetation, fens
(1%) Broad-leaved deciduous woodland
